NEC E338 Cell Phone

I stopped my cell phone service nearly a decade ago. My decision was primarily due to safety concerns on the EMF issues.

I have been researching this issue, though, and several recent innovations have finally overcome my concerns. The major one is "Bluetooth wireless technology," http://www.bluetooth.com/tech/works.asp which is essentially a completely wireless headset that enables you to place the cell phone up to 30 feet away from your body. This is more than sufficient to minimize the potential EMF dangers.

This technology was only introduced to the market in the last few months. Previously you could minimize a great deal of the cell phone dangers by using a wired headset, but my understanding is that many people avoided wired headsets due to the clumsiness of the gadgets.

At many places, this new wireless headset costs over $200. At my local Radio Shack, however, I found it for only $100.

The second element of a "safe" cell phone is to keep the phone off your body when it is in "standby" mode. For women this is relatively easy as they can put the phone in their purse. For men this is more of a challenge, and many wind up putting the phone in their pocket. It is wise to avoid doing this, as the EMF from the battery will disturb your own energy fields. This is the same reason why, ideally, you should even avoid wearing a watch. (I haven’t worn a watch for over 15 years).

The solution with a cell phone is to obtain a "holster" that allows you to carry the phone on your belt on the top of your pants. The holster places the phone off your physical body by about one inch, and I believe that is more than sufficient to minimize the EMF concerns. These devices are inexpensive and widely available, but you can pick one up at Radio Shack for $10.

Because this technology eliminated my EMF concerns, and because cell phones are obviously quite useful when the health concerns are subtracted, I decided it is time to own one again. And so I delved into researching the phones.

Not surprising considering my obsessive nature, this research turned into over ten solid hours of figuring out -- through reading, contacting experts, and more -- the best cell phones on the market. I decided it would be a waste not to provide you with my results.
